Who I Am

I'm Asher Wycoff (he/him), a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Graduate Center, CUNY. I live in Brooklyn with one spouse and two cats. In my spare time, I enjoy playing guitar (badly) and drawing cartoons (worsely). Sometimes I do that second thing for the department newsletter, so I can pretend that it's work.

What I Do

Research:  My concentration is modern political thought, primarily English and German. I'm particularly interested in the relationship between politics and theology. My dissertation traces the analogy of revolution and/as apocalypse through the modern liberal tradition. I keep an inconsistently updated blog about my process/progress here.

Teaching:  I float around the CUNY system on a contingent basis. Since 2018, I've been on contract at Lehman College, where I teach introductory courses in political theory and comparative politics. Previously, I taught core courses and research methods in Political Science at Brooklyn College.
